Participate in hands-on science activities during Family Science
Saturdays at The Bakken Museum! Play with Lego Robots and program them
to do special tricks. Check out the Ax-Man Inventors' Table and see how
lights, switches, circuits, batteries and buzzers work. Make your own
masterpiece at the Create-a-Table. Family Science Saturdays takes place
every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (museum is open until 5 p.m.) and
free with general admission.
Celebrate summer at The Bakken Museum's first annual 10-day festival of fun for the whole family! 10 Best Days of The Bakken coincides with the Minneapolis Aquatennial and begins Friday, July 18 with electrifying activities and special offers every day through Sunday, July 27.
Special museum hours during the 10 Best Days of The Bakken: Sunday 12 p.m.-5 p.m.; Monday-Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Frankenstein Fest
• 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. – Meet Frankenstein and learn why Bakken Museum founder Earl Bakken was inspired by the movie.
• 1 p.m. & 4 p.m. – Mary Shelley: Finding Frankenstein – See live performances from The Bakken Science Theater Company and enjoy free popcorn and water with the show.
Wednesday, July 23 – 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Bike to The Bakken
• 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Bike to The Bakken – Receive free admission when you bike to the museum and VIP bike parking. Check out The Hub’s bike powered blender and sample complimentary smoothies.
Thursday, July 24 – 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Thrifty Thursday
• 10 a.m.-8 p.m. – Thrifty Thursday – Receive half-off museum admission with an aluminum can and 10% off everything in The Bakken Museum Gift Shop.
• 10 a.m.-8 p.m. – Re-Creative – See recycled art on display and enjoy complimentary Peace Coffee.
• 5 p.m.-8 p.m. – Mindball Competitions – Take a sneak peek of The Bakken's newest exhibit, Mindball. The interactive game challenges participants’ ability to stay calm by reading alpha and theta waves through electrodes in a special headband. Challengers sit across the table from each other and manipulate a small ball toward their opponent using mind control. The player who is the most relaxed wins.
Friday, July 25 – 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Inventors’ Club Open House
• 12 p.m.-5 p.m. – Inventors' Club Open House – See what the kids in The Bakken’s invention programs have created, including a Bakken video game!
• 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Invention Open Workshop – Make a light-up magic wand.
• 3 p.m.-5 p.m. – Meet Kid Inventors – Meet kid inventors and learn about the creations on display.
• 3 p.m.-5 p.m. – Mindball Competitions – Take a sneak peek of The Bakken's newest exhibit, Mindball. • 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Scavenger Hunt – Look for dozens of museum and garden treasures, and hear details about what you find at The Bakken from exhibit interpreters.
• 10 a.m.- 5p.m. – Electric Heart Exhibit – See, hear and feel the natural electricity that powers your heart and learn more about it from exhibit interpreters. Learn about heart health from the American Heart Association.
• 2 p.m. – Shocking News About Your Heart – See a live performance from The Bakken Science Theater Company and enjoy free popcorn and water with the show.
Sunday, July 27 – 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Frozen Treats Sunday
• 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. – Frozen Treats Sunday – Cool off with complimentary frozen treats and bottled water in The Bakken’s Sunroom and take a stroll through the garden.
• 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. & 4 p.m. – House & Garden Tours – Take a guided tour of the 1930s mansion that houses the museum’s collections and its spectacular gardens.
• 1 p.m.-3 p.m. – Mindball Competitions – Take a sneak peek of The Bakken's newest exhibit, Mindball.
