Shocking News About Your Heart (Grades K-6)
This fun-filled and educational, interactive presentation is designed for both children and adults.  The show uses audience participation and demonstrations as well as some wacky historical characters to teach the audience about the electrical nature of the body and the Chain of Survival, the steps to help someone suffering from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

War of the Currents (Grades 3-6)
Students will learn about electrical generation, transmission, and conservation through the story of Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison and their historic debate over Alternating Current versus Direct Current told in an engaging and interactive way.  This presentation empowers students to think about how they can help solve the energy challenges we face today.

Small Stuff, Big Deal (Grades 3-8)
The nanoscale describes things in our universe that are very small, but just how small are we talking? And if these things are so small, why do we concern ourselves with them? Considered to be the cutting edge of STEM research today, nanoscience explores some very little things that may have a very big impact on our lives. Students will see and participate in exciting and surprising demonstrations and experiments that encourage them to consider both the power and the potential problems with this frontier of discovery.

Finding Frankenstein (Grades 7-12)
Who would Mary Shelley be if she were alive today?  What led the mother of science fiction to write the novel Frankenstein at the age of 18?  Find answers to these questions and learn about the science and culture of the early 1800’s from Mary Shelley herself in a 45 minute interactive theatrical presentation.  This experience is perfect for classes who have read or will be reading the novel Frankenstein as well as science classes exploring the history and nature of science, electricity, or electricity in the human body.

Green Energy Outreach Program (Grades 3-6)

The Bakken's Green Energy Outreach (GEO) program is a classroom-based workshop paired with a science theater-based assembly program that empowers students to think about how they can help solve the energy challenges we face today.  The GEO program will focus on what electricity is and how it is generated through a two-visit program.  First, the classroom-based Energy Workshop provides the foundation for understanding key scientific concepts through hands-on demos and full class participation in high interest activities.  The workshop is followed by the entertaining "War of the Currents" science theater performance as a school assembly, highlighting the story of Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla and their historic debate over Direct Current versus Alternating Current.

Nanoscience Package: Small and Smaller (Grades 3-8)
Start with our very exciting Small Stuff, Big Deal Assembly as an introduction to the cutting edge of science on the smallest scale then build on that understanding with a classroom workshop. Student's will get the excitement we can provide in a large show then get to approach the subject of nanoscale science in a smaller and more inquiry-driven environment, getting up close and personal with demonstrations and working on small groups challenges. While this is complex field of science, this package allows students to getting an understanding of this small science and fuel their excitement about it's big possibilities.
