New Exhibit Open Now in the Cabinet of Curiosity
Flora + Fauna, a new exhibit in the Cabinet of Curiosity, features illustrations of plants and animals that hint at the variety and richness of the natural world and our human fascination with it. These pieces of amazing history come from our underground vault and select pieces have been generously loaned to us from the University of Minnesota’s Andersen Horticultural Library and Wangensteen Historical Library.
Most of the illustrations you will see are from our world-class collection of rare, historical books, usually hidden from view in an underground vault to ensure their preservation. A few of the works have been generously loaned from other area libraries. They are books about medicinal plants, wild animals, and natural philosophy.
Stop in this summer to see Flora + Fauna, and come upstairs to The Great Hall to see Shades of Nature, a student-produced art collection from the Minnesota School of Botanical Arts on display now through October!
