Make Something!

Inventors Club is a six week program for girls and boys to become inventors. Students make a project using the tools and materials from The Bakken’s student workshop. Guided by mentors and Bakken educators, students can build almost anything they can dream up. Students gain hands-on experience with science, technology, engineering and math while creating their own individual projects. Each session has a unique theme to spark the imagination. Programs occur on six mostly consecutive Saturdays during the fall, winter, and spring.

Excuse our DustTemporary Location - The Works Museum

We're renovating! The Bakken Museum's lower level, including classrooms and makerspace, will be closed for upgrades during the first half of 2020. During construction, we are partnering with The Works Museum in Bloomington to offer our education programs.

Take advantage of this exciting time. In addition to offsite education programs, join us at The Bakken Museum for Science Studio in the West Winds mansion every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and receive an extra 6-month extension on all Bakken Memberships!

Winter at The Works Museum

During this session of Inventors Club, students will be tasked with using technology to create art. Given tools, art supplies, and ingenuity, can you build your own art-producing contraptions? Kids will look at existing examples to try and get inspiration, and then spend the first two Saturdays trying their hand at making their own mechanical (or electrical!) artists. Who knows, maybe you will build the next robotic Rembrandt!
