Build, Program, Test, Repeat!

The Bakken Museum's LEGO Robotics Program gives kids ages 8 through 12 the opportunity to embark on an adventurous challenge to build and program LEGO robots. No prior experience with computer programming or robots needed.  Programs occur on four consecutive Saturdays in the fall, winter, and spring.

Fall

Intro to Robotics

Explore the fundamentals for building and program basic LEGO NXT robots. Build a robot from a common template and customize it's look and operation. Learn to control robots with simple and then more complex code.

  • September 28th, October 5th, 12th, & 19th
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

For students in 3rd, 4th, 5th grades

(No previous experience necessary)

Story Telling Robots

Explore how robots can tell stories. Puppets, interactive dioramas, dancing machines. Students decide what to build and and how to program LEGO EV3 robots to play in the intersection of technology and humanities.

Price

Each session costs $160 (or $144 for families with a Household or Supporting Membership)

Scholarships

The Bakken offers income based scholarships to help provide access to its youth programs. Please visit the Youth Program Scholarships page for more information.

Or you can:

  • Mail a completed registration form with a check
  • Complete your registration by phone at 612-926-3878.
  • Stop by the museum to complete a registration form and pay using cash, check or credit card.
