Open Eye Theatre and The Bakken Museum

Liz Howl’s BUG GIRL
On the Rooftop at The Bakken Museum, October 15-24

(Minneapolis, MN) September 24, 2020 – Open Eye Theatre and The Bakken Museum announce a six-night run of Liz Howl’s shadow puppet show BUG GIRL. Performed on The Bakken Museum’s spacious green roof, this large format shadow puppet show draws inspiration from graphic novels, pulp comic book, and B-horror movies in a funny and creepy tale of a girl who fights to control a parasite who has invaded her. BUG GIRL will include live pre-show music. This pre-Halloween fun runs October 15-24 and is recommended for ages 13 and up. Get $15 advance tickets at openeyetheatre.org.

BUG GIRL tells the story of a young girl who grows wings and shrinks in size after swallowing a strange insect. Her new abilities become a threat to those around her as a new hunger drives her to consume—and ravage—the minds of those closest to her. Searching for a means to control her powers and tame her parasite, Bug Girl will travel between worlds, battling the darkness within and without her.

Liz Howls previously presented BUG GIRL at the Southern Theatre as part of Twin Cities Horror Festival in 2019.

“Creator Liz Howls and her hardworking team create incredible effects as they play with scale on adjacent screen panels.” — City Pages
