The Bakken Museum, 50 Innovators on Kare 11
Aired February 26th, 2026
Our Vice President of Programs, Anika Taylor went on Kare 11’s MN & Co. segment hosted by Jessica Fix to talk about The Bakken Museum’s Lego scavenger hunt for our 50 innovators, our hands-on activities, as well as our March Discovery Day: Women in Science event.
Our 50 innovator Lego minifigures are in honor of our 50th birthday this past fall! Hidden in batches of ten throughout the year, all innovators are submitted by the community. The only two requirements for submission? They have to be living, and local. From famous chefs to the inventor of the post-it note. Search for these living local innovators throughout The Bakken Museum today!
Our hands-on activities are part of our Science Studio, including things like circuit building! These activities are put out on weekends and during larger events to help encourage curiosity and improve everyone’s understanding of STEM.
Finally our Discovery Day: Women in Science event held, Saturday, March 21st 2026. This event -like all our Discovery Days- has lots of hands-on activities such as the aforementioned circuit building. We also have many cool demonstrations from our partners, including; The Bell Museum, Boston Scientific, Bug in System FTC Robotics, Cool Trash, Gillette Children's, Institute of Child Development and Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Isthmus Engineering, Nibi-Clear, Society of Women Engineers: MN Professional Section, Ann Bancroft Foundation, and 3M. This event is a great opportunity to come see real women working in science show off fun and educational STEM demonstrations! Fun for the whole family that allows for cool opportunities to learn about current developments in the STEM field right here in Minnesota.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Kare 11 and Jessica Fix for having The Bakken Museum on and allowing us to share our mission!
