Registration policies

The Bakken Museum’s youth education programs and public events are available for registration online, via phone at 612-871-4907, and in person at our front desk during open hours.

  • General admission, event tickets, and program registration for The Bakken Museum can be purchased online, via phone, or in-person at The Bakken Museum. Advance purchase is recommended for all activities. Full payment must be received for registration to be completed.

The Museum occasionally photographs and/or records exhibits and programs for advertising and promotional use. Should you have an objection to the Museum using photographs/recordings of you or your children, please notify a Visitor Services staff member when you notice photography or filming being conducted for the above-mentioned reasons and we will make all reasonable accommodations.

  • The Bakken Museum offers limited income tickets for public events. Limited Income Event Tickets are half of the general ticket price for the event and are available for anyone enrolled in the following programs: TANF, MFIP, WIC, General Assistance, Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Benefits, SNAP, Section 8, or Free/Reduced Price School Meals. Proof of eligibility is not required to purchase Limited Income Event Tickets.

Please note that Limited Income Event Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To receive this ticket type, please select that option while checking out online or speak with a staff member at the visitor services desk.

  • If an event ticket is canceled within 14 days of the program, a $10 cancellation fee will apply to each pre-registered ticket. Please note that while participants will receive a refund for the program itself, registration fees are non-refundable.

Cancellations within 7 days of a program are non-refundable.

Please call The Bakken Museum at (612) 926-3878 or email info@thebakken.org to receive a refund.

  • The Bakken Museum creates waitlists for all filled programs and events.

Please go directly to the webpage of that program or event to find the posted waitlist and sign up. You may also call Visitor Services at (612) 926-3878 to be added to the waitlist. The Bakken Museum will only contact waitlist contacts as space becomes available.

  • Some events and programs at The Bakken Museum have age requirements. All registrants must meet the listed age requirements to participate in a program or event.

Age specifications will be noted within each description of the program or event.

  • The Bakken Museum values diversity and welcomes all event participants without discrimination based on age, race, color, religion, creed, national origin, marital status, familial status, sex, gender identity and/or expression, pregnancy, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, genetic information, status with regard to public assistance, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, or local law.

  • The Bakken Museum may close and cancel programs in the event of severe weather. If this occurs, The Bakken Museum will contact program registrants directly via email or phone. When closure is necessary, staff will post updates publicly on the museum’s website and social media channels as timely as possible.
