The Bakken Museum Expands Summer Camps to St. Paul in 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 3, 2026

Additional location meets demand for STEM-based learning across the Twin Cities this summer.

Minneapolis, March 3, 2026— The Bakken Museum announces an expanded summer camp program for 2026, including a new St. Paul location providing upper elementary and middle school students with immersive, hands-on STEM experiences. The expansion comes as other local summer camp programs experience cutbacks.

“Our goal is to provide programs that are challenging, creative and accessible — and to do so at a moment when those opportunities matter more than ever.” Jenn Hensley, president of The Bakken Museum

Camp Innovation inspires campers to create original projects using tools and materials from The Bakken Museum’s Makerspace. Participants practice the full innovation process — from ideation to design to execution — under the guidance of experienced educators.

From July 6 – August 14 the museum will host its popular Camp Innovation at the University of St. Thomas in addition to its Minneapolis location. Sessions are open to students entering grades 4 through 8.

Registration is live, with scholarship and need-based support available. For more information or to register, visit thebakken.org/summer-camp.
