When school is out, the fun is in at The Bakken Museum! Camps to entertain and educate the young innovator in your household. Students will make plan, make, improve, and show off their very own inventions. Join us for a half-day or register for two sessions and stay all day long!

The Bakken Museum's 2019 Minnesota Educator Academy (MEA) Conference Break Camp will be held Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, October 18, reserve your spot now!

Break Camps are for students in grades 3-6.



9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

GHOST PENCIL | Is your pencil haunted? What’s that sound? It’s a Drawdio! In this class, we will practice soldering a circuit to make your pencil make noise.

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

EL EXTRAVAGANZA | Luminous and flexible, EL wire can add a unique twist to a decoration to make it shine. We will explore cardboard construction and circuitry to make an illuminating Halloween decoration.


9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

HAUNTED MANSION | What’s lurking behind that window? In this workshop, we will combine cardboard construction and circuitry to make a model haunted house.

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

MINI MONSTER | Let your Dr. Frankenstein shine, and create a creature in our makerspace. We will use cardboard, foam, fabric, circuits and other materials to build monsters that light up, make noise or even move around.


9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

MAKE A MASK | No costume is complete without a good mask. In this workshop, we will explore different types of masks, and create our own.

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

CARDBOARD COSTUME | Build some cool costume components with cardboard! Whether you like superheroes, Disney, sci-fi, or your own imagination, you can custom design a unique piece to enhance any costume.



$40 per half-day session. Join us for one session or register to stay the whole day!
