Discovery Days: Women in Science

  • The Bakken Museum 3537 Zenith Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55416 United States (map)

Please note this event has already passed.

Get inspired by women using science, technology, and the humanities to make the world a better place. Join us for a family-focused event featuring hands-on activity tables, interactive experiments, and demonstrations by community partners.

Event highlights include:

  • Learn about orthotic and prosthetic patient care with Gillette Children’s through interactive demonstrations.

  • Try VR, digital pixel art, an encryption machine, and more computer science activities with Girls Dream Code.

  • Learn about how plants are used to make medicine – and poison – with the Northland Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology (NLSOT).

  • Shop a selection of books supporting Women’s History Month from local bookstore The Thinking Spot.

  • And more!

This event is recommended for ages 5-14, plus friends and family. Discovery Day access and activities are included with the cost of museum admission.

All women, especially women of color, trans women, and women with disabilities, continue to be underrepresented in STEM fields. Our annual Women in Science event seeks to inspire all young people to see themselves as capable innovators through activities and interactions with real-life creators, scientists, engineers, and more.
