Covid-19
The Bakken Museum is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The museum has carefully implemented health and safety measures to keep visitors and staff safe.
LATEST UPDATE: MARCH 2, 2022: Following the most up-to-date scientific information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), visitors may now choose whether or not to wear a mask during their visit to The Bakken Museum.
Under the CDC guidance, people in counties labeled “low” or “medium” for COVID-19 levels may choose for themselves whether to wear a mask or not. At this time, all seven counties in the Twin Cities metro area are at the low or medium level.
We will continue to monitor guidance from the scientific community and state and local health officials to help keep our community safe.
Additional safety information:
Our HVAC system has been adjusted to increase the percentage of outdoor air throughout our facility.
Hand washing and hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the museum.
Anyone experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other known symptom of COVID-19, is asked not to visit the museum. We look forward to welcoming you at a later date.
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
COVID-19 GUIDELINES AND PREPAREDNESS
MASKS
All visitors who are over age two, and medically able to tolerate a face covering, are required to wear a mask covering their mouth and nose while inside The Bakken Museum.
STAYING HOME
If you or your child have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or any other known symptom of COVID-19, please do not visit the museum. We hope you will visit on another day when you are well.
HAND WASHING
Hand washing remains the best way to prevent germ spread. We ask that guests wash hands frequently during their museum visit. Visitors and staff members are instructed to wash their hands or use sanitizer when a sink is not available, every hour for 20 seconds, and after any of the following activities: using the restroom, sneezing, touching the face, blowing the nose, cleaning, smoking, eating, drinking and before or after starting work.
HAND SANITIZER
Hand sanitizer stations are placed at the museum’s entrance and throughout the museum with highly visible signage to make them easy to find.
CHECK-IN
Transparent partitions have been added to the admissions desk.
RESERVATIONS & TIMED ENTRY
Guests are encouraged to purchase their timed tickets online for a specific entry time. Once tickets are purchased, visitors will receive an emailed ticket and receipt that can be scanned at the front desk to check in. Museum members must sign in to their online account to schedule a visit and receive free admission.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Guests are encouraged to pack a lunch and enjoy it at one of several outdoor rooftop picnic tables, weather permitting. We offer a selection of snacks and beverages in our vending machine in the museum lobby.
CLEANING
High touch areas are being cleaned frequently throughout the day, and every evening after the museum closes. Our HVAC system has been adjusted to increase the percentage of outdoor air throughout our facility.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Bakken Museums is wheelchair accessible. Please see our accessibility page for more details.
